The plant is often found in the southern and south-eastern parts of the country , in the foothills and Lublin .


 

Elderberry ( kalinka ) - shrub grows to about 3 m in height , light brown twigs , leaves 3-7 mop , nieparzysto - pierzasto - slashing , serrated leaves the banks , pointed , lance-shaped , elongated or longitudinally elliptical , flowers gathered in baldachokształtne inflorescences or wiechowatego shape , compact , initially greenish color , then whitish or yellowish ; fruits gathered in the oval ( millets ) or baldachokształtne circle , red ( drupes ) . It flowers from April to May. It occurs in forests, the rivers , the bushes , the fields. Common in the southern Polish .

The medicine is used , flower, fruit and leaf - Flos , Fructus et Folium Sambuci ebuli ( hebdu ) aka racemosae ( Kalinka ) . With hebdu producing a sometimes bark - Cortex Sambuci ebuli . Fruit is dried at a temperature of 60-80 ° C. Leaves and flowers at 20 ~ 40 ° c Bark should be deprived of water at approximately 60 ° C.

 

The chemical composition

Root , bark , leaves and fruits hebdu contain essential oil in an amount of about 0.075 % saponin , tannins , acids ( ursolic chlorogenic shikimic lot , sulfuric acid ), salts ( sulfides , sulfates , carbonates , acetates , oxalates ) , alkaloids ( ? ) , glycoside - sambunigrynę , flavonoids . Kalinka has in their bodies a lot of ursolic acid , saponins , tannins, phenolic glycosides , nitrilosides , alkaloids ( sambucynę ) emulsynę , salts, and others. Fruits contain about 3 % sugar , about 2% of the organic acids , ascorbic acid - about 30-50 mg/100 g, pectin , carotene, antocyjaniany (e.g. chryzanteminę ) . The chemical composition of both species requires a more thorough check .

 

Action: mainly diaphoretic , antipyretic , diuretic , detoxifying , laxative , expectorant , antiseptic , cholagogue , anti-rheumatic , antiarthritic , anti-inflammatory , sedative, stimulates the secretion of gastric juice , anthelmintic and anti . Old sources say that the two plants regulate metabolism and analgesic .

 

Indications: constipation, oliguria , urolithiasis and cholelithiasis , biliary stasis , fever, colds , obesity , rheumatism , gout , congestive edema , hypertension, nerve pain , respiratory catarrh .

 

Contraindications: nausea , diarrhea .

 

The formulations, dosage, use :

· Decoction ( bark, fruit , root ) boiled 10 minutes - 100 ml three times the plot , in a fever - 50 ml 4 times the plot , a decoction of the fruit sweeten with honey , used as a gargle and poultices for wounds , ulcers , eczema and abscesses .

· Herbal tea ( leaf, flower) - 50 ml 3-4 times the plot ( with flowers - max. 100 ml four times daily) , you can with honey , rinse mouth and throat with pus and inflammatory conditions .
