Caution! In the last few years (when I wrote this was the early '90s) was a problem that affects barszczy and requires some explanation. Now, in the second half of the seventies brought to the Polish borscht new species , namely Heracleum sosnowsky (Manden.) . It was widely cultivated by WOPR-y as fodder for silage (the yield was approximately 800-1000 quintals per hectare) . In our climate , however, turned out to be useless plant, indeed - even dangerous for pets (gastrointestinal irritation , diarrhea , nausea, internal bleeding) and the same for the people (inflammation of the skin , blisters filled with serous fluid, conjunctivitis, runny nose, sneezing , etc.  . So it grows in and around the state farms , etc. agricultural centers (mainly), but it certainly will spread to other areas . Thus, if one decides to set borscht conjunction . and Siberian medicinal purposes must be distinguished from the soup Sosnowski , who gives off irritating substances, and it is not an easy thing . Beetroot medical exhibit high volatility and break up into a number of subgenres , chemotypes , race, region difficult to determine . Borsch Sosnowski grows up to 300 cm height , stem deeply longitudinally striate, sparsely hairy (pubescent are harder petiole ), the lower leaves triangular in outline, the upper - feathery complex, accompanied by a sheath, inflorescence - dense umbel, calyx 5 - feed ; crown 5 - lobed, white, post 1 ; fruit - Schizocarp with two rozłupkami.
